Clarinet

The Clarinet is a member of the woodwind family. Sound is made by blowing over a piece of wood on the mouthpiece called a reed. The reed vibrates and sends sound through the instrument. Different notes are made by covering and uncovering holes and keys on the clarinet. The clarinet is held by a thumb rest on the back of the instrument. A clarinet rental includes a case, one (1) reed, cork grease, and a cleaning swab.
Basic clarinet maintenance is easy. Reeds need to be replaced on a regular basis, as they break or wear out. Beginning students will likely go through them quickly. The clarinet should also be cleaned after each use by swabbing the inside of all pieces with a cleaning swab to remove any moisture. Reeds can be stored in a reed guard which will protect and extend the life of the reed.
An important thing to always remember: If your child shows an interest in playing an instrument, be sure to show them support! Don't be afraid an instrument is too heavy, too complicated or too big for your child. Let them explore their musical talents, no matter how strange you may think it is. Encouragement is the key to success.
